BMW figured it was time for a new Series.
Ever since the very first BMW 3 Series there has been a 3 Series coupe. Until this current generation, that is. BMW felt the need to separate the coupe and convertible version of its benchmark sport sedan and coupe with different names, and the number four wasn’t being used so, hey, why the heck not? Meet the BMW 4 Series. The real reason, however, was partly because Audi didn’t call its 3 Series rival, the A4, the A4 coupe. No, that model is the A5. Making more sense now? Plus BMW wanted to give the coupe version its own unique styling.
Anyway, the 2017 BMW 430i is the subject of our latest review and like its 3 Series sedan counterpart, we’re very impressed by it. Powered by a 2.0-liter turbohcarged four-cylinder with 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque (which is available at just 1,450 rpm), it’s paired to an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters, sending power to the rear wheels.
