You’re looking at the 2017 Porsche 911 GTS quintets, the latest additions to the all-turbocharged 991.2 sports car family. Offered in coupe, cabriolet and targa body styles, the new GTS gets all-wheel drive on every model, though there’s also an available rear-drive GTS coupe for the purists.
Horsepower and torque are both up over the 911 Carrera S thanks in part to larger turbochargers; the 3-liter flat-six now cranks out 450 hp (up 30 hp over the S) and 405 lb-ft. (up 37 from the S). The best news? All that power is sent through a standard seven-speed manual transmission regardless of which GTS body style you choose. Yes, the seven-speed PDK can be optioned across the line, and yes, it’s really damn good, but still: stick-shift 911.
Helping keep things planted is standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM); coupe models also get a special sport suspension that lowers ride height by .39 inch. That, plus lighter weight, is likely also part of the reason the stick-shifted rear-drive GTS can top out at 193 mph, assuming you have a long enough stretch of asphalt.
